"Hakutsuru Sake & Washoku Pairing" event

We hosted “Hakutsuru Sake & Washoku Pairing” event at Yuzu Japanese Dining in Bethesda on February 3rd. The dinner started from “Ankimo (a Japanese dish made with monkfish liver) plum wine jelly with Momiji oroshi ponzu, (chili-tinted grated daikon with Japanese sauce made with soy sauce and citrus juice)” with plum wine. The next dish we enjoyed was “Salmon chan-chan yaki,” which was foil grilled salmon and Enoki mushrooms with butter. We tasted it with a sake called Daiginjo which is a top-quality sake brewed from rice grains milled to 50% and has a well-rounded and rich flavor. During the event, five Japanese sakes were served with a variety of Japanese dishes which were created by the chef to best match with the sake. 20 people attended and there was Q & A time at the end of the event. It was a successful night!
